IV fejezet

1. And it came to pass, I spoke towards my brothers, saying: We go up again into Jerusalem, and let us be faithful inside the keeping of the Lord's commandments, because behold He is more powerful beside the entire world, then why wouldn't He be more powerful beside Laban and beside his fifty, yea, or even beside his ten thousand?

2. For this reason we go up, let us be strong, like towards Moses; because he really spoke to the Red Sea waters, and those changed in the direction of two, and our fathers through it they came, out of slavery száraz talajon, and the armies of the Pharaoh they followed them, and megfulladtak the Red Sea waters in.

3. Now behold, you all know, that this is true; and that also you all know, that an angel spoke towards you all; how kételkedhettek therefore? We go up; the Lord is able to free us, like unto our fathers, and to destroy Laban, like unto the Egyptians.

4. Now when these words I said, they were angry, and further they continued to murmer; but because of that they followed me until, (did the translators mis-translate here? Someone help me out, in Hungarian it says míg el nem értünk Jeruzsálem falain kívülre which I think means "until we didn't arrive outside of Jerusalem's walls" when it should be "we did arrive..." so shouldn't it be something like míg elértünk Jeruzsálem falain kívülre?  I went back and forth like twenty times thinking "No, they couldn't have made a mistake, but that does mean that they didn't arrive...I think, am I wrong? Are they wrong? Arrrgh).

5. And it was night; and I hid them outside the walls.  And after they were hidden, I, Nephi beosontam into the city and I went forwards, in the direction of Laban's house.

6. And then the Spirit led me, not knowing beforehand the things, which I should do.

7. Nevertheless I went forward, and as soon as I came near Laban's house, I saw a person, and to the ground was fallen before me, because out of wine was részeg.

8. And when I arrived towards there, I recognized, that it was Laban.

9.  And I saw his sword and kihúztam it of that hüvelyéből; and for that markolata out of golden color it was, and of that kidolgozása exceedingly fine, and I saw, that for that pengéje the most precious metals out of, it exists.

10. And it came to pass, that the Spirit onto that compelled, that being I should kill Laban; but this I said inside my heart; Never, at no time I have not spilt a person's blood! And visszariadtam and that I desired, that I should not kill.

11. And the Spirit this said to me again: Behold the Lord into your hand has given (in English it says hands, in Hungarian it says kezedbe, to be hands shouldn't it be kezeidbe?) Yea, and that I also knew, that onto that he strove that he should take away my own life; yea, and he was not willing to listen to the Lord's commandments and our wealth he also took.

12. And it came to pass, that the Spirit again this said to me: kill him, because the Lord into your hand has given!

13. Behold, the Lord kills the wicked, that His righteous goals should be accomplished.  It is better, if one person is lost, than if a nation sinks and is lost in faithlessness.

14. And now, when I, Nephi, heard these words, I remembered back onto the words of the Lord, which in the wilderness spoke towards me, saying: Inasmuch as your seed keep My commandments, they will prosper in the promised land.

15. Yea, and that I also thought, that they cannot keep the Lord's commandments according to Moses' law, if the law is not in their possession.

16. And that I also know, that the law on the (rézlemezekre: so looking in my dictionary, there isn't a definition for réz as a word by itself, it says "réz: (vörös) copper (sárga) brass" so shouldn't it be sárgarézlemezekre? As it is now doesn't it not mean anything or not make sense? I had come across this word in the previous chapter and I just wrote down plates of brass because I knew that is what was in the English scriptures, but then I looked at it again and realized that it didn't actually say plates of brass in Hungarian, the way it is now doesn't it not differentiate whether it is copper or brass?) were engraven.

17.  Furthermore I knew, that the Lord for this purpose gave into my hand Laban - that I should obtain the records, according to His commandments

18. For this I was obedient to the Spirit's voice, and I grabbed Laban's head by the hair, and I cut his head off with his own sword.

19.  And after I cut his head off with his own sword, I took Laban's clothes and put those on, yea, every piece, and weapons also a derekamra csatoltam.

20.  And after I did this, I left towards Laban's treasury.  And as soon as towards Laban's treasury haladtam, behold, I saw Laban's servant, who with the keys of the treasury were.  And I commanded to him in Laban's voice, that he should come with me to the treasury.

21.  He though, thought that I was his master, Laban I am, because he saw the clothes, and the sword also around my waist tied.

22. And spoke to me the Jews véneit relating to, knowing, that his master, Laban, in the night outside was among them.

23.  And I like that spoke towards him like I was Laban.

24.  And that also I said to him, that I need to take away the engravings, which are on the plates of brass, to my elder brethren, who outside the walls are.

25. And onto this also I said, that he should follow.

26. And he, thinking that I the brethren of the church spoke about, and that I really was Laban, who I killed, he followed me therefore.

27.  And many times he spoke to me relating to the old Jews, as soon as we left towards my brothers, who outside the walls they were.

28.  And it came to pass, that when Laman saw me, he was exceedingly megrémült, and Lemuel and Sam as well.  And they fled from before me; because they thought that it was Laban, and that he killed me and onto that he strove, that their lives also he should take.

29.  And it came to pass, that after them kiáltottam, and they heard me; ceasing therefore fleeing from before me.

30.  And it came to pass, that when the servant of Laban saw my brothers he began to shake, and on that was, that he would flee before me, and return to the city of Jerusalem.

31. And now I, Nephi, being a large in stature person, and receiving much strength from the Lord, I seized therefore Laban's servant, and kept, that he should not run away.

32.  And it came to pass, that I spoke with him, that if he would hear onto my words, that as the Lord liveth, and as I live, like unto this, if he hears onto our words, megkíméljük his life.

33. And I spoke towards him, toward him esküvel, that he doesn't need to fear; that a free person he will be, similar to us, if he comes with us into the wilderness.

34.  And I spoke towards him saying: With confidence the Lord commanded to us, that this thing we do; and shouldn't we be diligent inside the keeping of the Lord's commandments? For this if you come to my father in the wilderness, there will be place for you among us.

35.  And it came to pass, that Zoram took courage on the words, which I spoke.  Now Zoram was the servant's name; and he promised to come with us to our father in the wilderness.  Yea, and did an oath to us, that with us would remain from that time forward.

36.  Now onto that we desired, that with us he should remain for that reason, that the Jews should not know about our flight into the wilderness, otherwise üldözőbe they take and destroy us.

37.  And it came to pass, that when Zoram did an oath to us, our fears ceased in relationship with him.

38.  And it came to pass, that we took the plates of brass and Laban's servant, and we left into the wilderness, and towards the tent of our father we went.
