1. And now I would like, if you all would know, that after my father Lehi finished the prophesying in relation to his seed, it came to pass, that the Lord again spoke towards him, saying that, that being it isn't in order that he, Lehi alone should bring his family with himself into the wilderness; but that his sons should take to wife daughters, that seed they should grow to the Lord in the promised land.
2. And it came to pass that the Lord commanded to him, that I, Nephi, and my brothers should again return to the land of Jerusalem, and bring down Ishmael and his family into the wilderness.
3. And it came to pass that I, Nephi with my brothers together I went again into the wilderness, that I should go up to Jerusalem.
4. And it came to pass that we went up Ishmael's house towards, and kegyet we found in the presence of Ishmael's eyes, insomuch that we said to him the words of the Lord.
5. And it came to pass that the Lord meglagyította Ishmael's heart, and his house the people of as well, insomuch that to the road they set forth with us, down into the wilderness, our father his tent towards.
6. And it came to pass, as soon as we went inside of the wilderness, behold Laman and Lemuel, and Ishmael two daughters of, and Ishmael two sons of and their families rose up in revolt against us, yea, against myself, Nephi against, and against Sam, as well as their father Ishmael and wife of and other three daughters of against.
7. And it came to pass, that in this rebellion onto that they desired, that being they return onto the land of Jerusalem.
8. And now I, Nephi, gyötrődtem because their hearts the hardness of, for this I began to speak towards them, saying, yea, towards to Laman and to Lemuel: Behold, you both are my older brothers you are, and how is it, that your hearts that kind of hardness, and that kind of blindness are your minds, that onto that exists your need, that I, your younger brother should speak towards you both, yea, and to stand as an example before you?
9. How is it, that ye don't hear onto the word of the Lord?
10. How is it, that ye forget that ye saw to the Lord an angel?
11. Yea, and how is it that, that being ye have forgotten, what great things done for us the Lord, saving us out of Laban's hand, for that reason that we obtain the records.
12. Yea, and how is it that ye forget that the Lord is capable every thing to do, according to His desires for the children of men, if like that it is, that faith they exercise in Him? Let us therefore be faithful towards Him!
13. And if like that it is, that faithful we are towards Him, then we obtain the Promised Land, and later some day ye will know, that the word of the Lord with destruction of Jerusalem in relationship to are fulfilled; because to every thing that the Lord Jerusalem destruction with in relation to He said, must be fulfilled.
14. Because behold, the Spirit of the Lord quickly ceases bajlódni with them; because behold, they rejected the prophets and Jeremiah prison in they put. And onto that they strove, that they should take away my father's life, insomuch, that they drove him out off of that off the land.
15. Now behold, that I say to ye, that being if ye return Jerusalem into, then ye also with them together will be lost. And now, if there exists your (plural) choice, go up onto that the land onto, and remember the words onto, which I said to ye, that if ye go, then ye also will be lost; because onto this compels me the Lord Spirit of, that this I say.
16. And it came to pass, that when I, Nephi, these words I said to my brothers, they became angry onto me. And it came to pass, that with hands seized, because behold, very up they were háborodva, and the bound with rope, because onto that they strove, that being I should lose my life, that inside the wilderness they should leave me, that the wild animals felfaljanak.
17. But it came to pass, that towards the Lord I prayed, saying: O Lord, according to my faith, which is inside me, save me from among the hands of my brothers; yea towards that give strength, that being széttéphessem these ropes, with which they bound!
18. And it came to pass, that as soon as these words I said, behold off of my hands and off of my feet fell off the rope, and I there stood before my brothers, and again I spoke towards them.
19. And it came to pass, that they again were angry onto me, and onto that they strove, that being they should seize with hands; but behold, Ishmael one of daughters of, yea and the mother of (the daughter) also as well as Ishmael one of sons of könyörögtek to my brothers, insomuch, that they softened their hearts; and they ceased onto that to strive, that they should take away my life.
20. And it came to pass, that elkeseredtek their wickedness because of, insomuch that leborultak before me and like that they begged, that being that I should forgive them the thing, which against me they did.
21. And it came to pass, that I fenntartás without forgave them everything that which they did, and onto that I encouraged them, that being the Lord towards, their God towards they should pray for forgiveness. And it came to pass, that like this they did. And after that towards the Lord intézet their prayers they finished, and again forward we went our father's tent in the direction of on our leading path.
22. And it came to pass, that we came our father's tent towards. And after I and my brothers, and Ishmael whole house of came down towards our father's tent, thanks they gave to the Lord, to their God; and sacrifice and burnt offerings they gave up to Him.
Congratulations if you've read this far! I'm trying to translate semi-literally to give an idea of what it's like to read the Book of Mormon in Hungarian, like I've said before, but believe me, if I were translating it literally it would be even worse. I think it would be pretty much impossible to understand since the word order is so different, as it is I imagine it's hard enough, especially if you've never read the Book of Mormon before. That's also partially why I think if another missionary undertook the same task their translation would be different, since they might make it more English friendly or even if they do it like I'm doing, there are places where I've seen myself translating the same phrase two different ways, and I pick one, but someone else could pick the other way. Both ways have the exact same meaning, just the syntax is different. It would be interesting for me to read, but I'm certain for you that reading the Book of Mormon once "in Hungarian" is sufficient.
